All of us has waste of time while working. It is no secret. There are many factors that can affect our focus at work. The most common ones are usually cell phones, needless meetings, irrelevant emails, and people interruptions.
To overcome the dependence on your phone, you can try airplane mode or just put it in a drawer and check it only certain times of the day. It sounds easy, but once you try it, you will be surprised of your increasing productivity. Filtering your emails regularly to see only important ones or just turning the notifications off during work hours can also help not getting distracted.
If you work in an open office space it is most likely to someone interrupt you for a quick question or just to say “hi!”. To avoid this, you can wear headphones or block out a period in your calendar to make it obvious that you don’t want to be disturbed.
Waste of time while working can be in some other forms too. Like unnecessary meetings that looks useful but in fact, isn’t. In most cases, you may communicate with your team via email and solve the problem. If a meeting is necessary, only invite key participants, make an agenda, and keep it as brief as possible. In any case, time can’t be turned back.
So use it wisely and achieve daily success.
